Snapchat, the popular photo sharing app used by millions of people around the world, has stopped working unexpectedly, preventing users from sending messages.
The Down Detector website registered tens of thousands of reports from users on Wednesday stating that they were unable to load chats or access the website’s Bitmojis.
The social app responded in a tweet, writing, “We are aware that some Snapchatters are currently having issues with the app – hold on, we’re looking into it!”
It is not currently clear what caused the failure, however The independent one asked Snapchat for a comment and was told that the problem is “not universal” and that many services are returning.
Facebook suffered a major outage on October 4th that also affected WhatsApp and Instagram, and the social network went down for six to seven hours.
The incident that cost the company millions of dollars in revenue and instead poured thousands of frustrated posters on Twitter and Snapchat.
Twitter was inundated with memes again on Wednesday as people expressed their relief that the Snapchat app wasn’t working because their own WiFi was faulty and several big public sighs of relief that the reason their boyfriend didn’t respond to them , the reason was the glitch, and not the result of something foolish they said.
“I started to worry that she doesn’t like me, luckily it’s just that the snapshot was taken,” one person wrote.
