NEWCASTLE meets Southampton in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals.
The Magpies are looking to win their first major trophy since 1969 and this season has an excellent opportunity to do so.
Eddie Howe’s side have been in spectacular form all season, losing just twice in all competitions.
Southampton are at their lowest point in the Premier League, losing 4-1 to Newcastle when the two sides met at St Mary’s in October.
But the Saints were fantastic as they beat Manchester City in the quarter-finals to set up their two-legged tie with Newcastle.
Whoever prevails will travel to Wembley for the final at the end of February, where they will play against Manchester United or Nottingham Forest.
Bruno Guimaraes is expected to start again for the Magpies after recovering from an ankle injury sustained in the win against Fulham earlier this month.
Matt Targett, Jonjo Shelvey and Emil Krafth are all out of contention as they still struggle with injuries.
Alexander Isak and Allan Saint-Maximin could both start for Eddie Howe’s team.
Che Adams is the competition’s top scorer and is expected to start with quarterfinal hero Sekou Mara.
