THESE are the six tips you can follow to stay safe when driving in the fog.

Safety concerns for drivers come after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Monday morning.

Freezing fog has descended across Britain overnight, affecting much of England.

Conditions have seen visibility drop below 200 meters – with Big Ben even hidden.

With travel chaos expected, commuters are being warned to give themselves more time.

The Met and National Highways advice states that you should avoid all travel if possible.

However, if you have to go somewhere, you should do it slowly and with your headlights on.

These are the six things you can do this morning to make your trip safer:

The weather service said: “Freezing fog will make for difficult driving conditions and could cause travel delays in some areas on Monday.”

While the weather warning is only valid until 11 a.m. today, fog is expected to return along with rain showers on Tuesday.

The freezing blast has reportedly caused 40 flights that were supposed to depart from Heathrow to be cancelled.

With temperatures plummeting to -8C in some parts, most of London, Oxford and Nottingham are affected by the warning.
