Drag Race star Michelle Visage shares incredible body transformation after a year of weight loss

DRAG Race star Michelle Visage has spoken candidly about her incredible body transformation.

The 54-year-old shared a post on Instagram with a selection of pictures from the past 12 months to mark her “1-year health year”.

Michelle, who joined RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2011, suffers from an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto’s disease.

It is the most common form of thyroiditis (inflammation of the thyroid gland).

People with it have trouble controlling their weight because the thyroid produces hormones that control metabolism.

In early 2022, Michelle decided to make lifestyle changes to improve her health.

Michelle shared snaps from last year showing how her body has changed as she has exercised and eaten a balanced diet.

Michelle told her 2 million followers on Instagram: “1 year Healththiversary update:

“This is not to brag, rejoice or trigger. I’m just sharing what many of you have been asking:

“For those who know what I’ve been through advocating for my own health hoping to become a healthy centurion and attempting to reverse my Hashimotos, this is for you.

“10. January 2022 out of nowhere my panic attacks came back after years of keeping them at bay. Due to my autoimmune condition, my body gets swollen and I gain weight very easily when I eat a poor diet of highly inflammatory foods. Honestly, this is what I love and crave, but my endocrine system is not.

“The food I had been consuming was now backfiring and my system was attacking itself.

“I needed a change and that change for me was to move to a very strict AIP regime.”

Michelle went on to explain which exercise she picked up.

She continued, “I had to make a change and start moving at the same time or my life was going to get difficult day by day.

“I started with 5 minutes of yoga by watching @yoga_with_kassandra and her videos on YouTube with a small towel in a quarantine hotel room.

“I was so out of shape and not at all technically good at yoga, but that didn’t put me off. I am dedicated to healing.

“I then hired a virtual trainer who coached me in every situation. @soniajonesfitness knew I could do it and she pushed me through every workout.

“I never wanted to be skinny, I WANT MUSCLES!

“Weights are so important for changing the body, especially for us women of a certain age. It’s a game changer!

“DON’T BE AFRAID OF LIFTING HEAVY WEIGHTS! Embrace it, it’s what will transform your body composition!
