A YOUNG boy has been hospitalized after being struck by lightning on a beach in Australia.
Emergency services were rushed to the scene at Warilla Beach in Shellharbour, New South Wales, after a child was reportedly injured while swimming.
It is reported that the child went into immediate cardiac arrest after being beaten around 5.20pm local time.
He was pulled out of the water and paramedics called to the beach south of Wollongong.
The child is flown to a nearby hospital.
