A NEW AI-powered tank has arrived – and it could be the future of defensive weaponry.

Estonian company Milrem Robotics and Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace have just revealed their latest AI-powered tank in a new role.

The combat vehicle, named Tank-x, shoots down targets with immense precision.

The video also clearly shows the vehicle’s ability to autonomously maneuver past obstacles in open spaces.

The tank’s features include navigation and obstacle detection systems powered by AI.

The tank is also equipped with a range of weapons such as 50mm cannons, anti-tank missiles and a tethered drone.

Milrem noted that a human must pull the trigger to fire the cannons.

The Estonian company developed the tank to protect soldiers from harm during war.

According to a report by National Defense, it is also intended to serve as support for main battle tanks in the field.

“They want to send them to take up the most dangerous positions there [are] no men in there,” Gert Hankewitz, market director at Milrem, told National Defense.

“If it blows up, everyone in the manned vehicles behind it stays safe.”

Milrem revealed plans to sell the AI vehicle to Nordic and Western European countries and possibly the United States.

According to the Daily Mail, at least 10 countries have placed orders for the AI-powered vehicle so far.

This latest video shows the tank performing its first live fire test, which is a big step forward for the mass development of the vehicle.

Currently, Tank-x is still in the prototype phase, but its design is already lighter and lower than other tanks.

While this prototype has a laser range finder and shot detection system, customers can customize the tanks, Hankewitz said.
