The World Cup qualification is in their final games. And decisions continue to be made diligently – also on Tuesday. Denmark has qualified as the next team, Austria must bury all World Cup dreams.

EM semi-finalist Denmark is the second team to buy a ticket for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Coach Kasper Hjulmand’s team celebrated their eighth to-zero victory in their eighth qualifying game in a 1-0 (0-0) win against Austria and made it to the World Cup finals for the second time in a row. Previously, only Germany had qualified for Qatar in terms of sport.

Joakim Mähle (53rd) scored in Copenhagen for the Danes, who are the only European team that have not yet given a point. Yussuf Poulsen (RB Leipzig) was in the starting line-up in contrast to Jacob Bruun Larsen (TSG Hoffenheim).

For Austria, on the other hand, the last hope of the play-off spot fell, for coach Franco Foda, who is already under criticism, things should now be tight.

Portugal’s soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has further expanded his best-ever goal for national teams – in typical fashion. In the 5-0 (3-0) victory of his team in the World Cup qualifier against the blatant underdog Luxembourg, CR7 scored twice from the penalty spot (8th, 13th) and made his three-pack perfect with a header from close range (87th).

The scorer now has 115 international goals in 182 games. It was only on Saturday that Ronaldo had become Europe’s record international player and had overtaken Sergio Ramos (Spain). Luxembourg is Ronaldo’s favorite opponent: The 36-year-old has not met any other nation more often in his international career (9). With the win, the Portuguese have at least second place in the play-off for qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
