Niklas Süle’s positive corona finding had some consequences for FC Bayern. A total of five players had to go into quarantine. The first is now free again – and travels to the international match.
On Friday evening (8.30 p.m., in the live ticker on t-online), FC Bayern will meet FC Augsburg at the start of the 12th Bundesliga matchday. Which player coach Julian Nagelsmann can then rely on is still uncertain after Niklas Süle’s corona infection and the associated quarantine for Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
One thing is certain: At least one of the quintet is allowed to play with Choupo-Moting. As the striker announced via Instagram, he tested himself free on Monday. The German internationals Musiala, Gnabry and Kimmich have also been able to test their free time since the beginning of the week. If the tests are negative, the stars can return to team training.
After his corona quarantine, Choupo-Moting is firmly planned for the upcoming Cameroon international match. “Before he went to Cameroon, he was tested negative, and this result was confirmed this morning. So he will definitely be in the squad,” said a spokesman for Cameroon’s national soccer team on Monday at the request of the dpa news agency. Several media had previously reported about it.
Cameroon is currently one point behind Ivory Coast in Group D of World Cup qualifiers and needs a win in Duala on Tuesday to secure a place in the 2022 finals in Qatar.
