The stage is set for a full weekend of music and racing in Chicago. NASCAR has announced the concert lineup with four headliners.
According to a press release, The Chainsmokers, Miranda Lambert, The Black Crowes and Charley Crockett will perform in concerts during the Chicago race weekend. The Black Crowes will perform after qualifying for Xfinity and the July 1st Cup Series, while The Chainsmokers will perform after the Xfinity Series race.
The music continues on July 2nd. Crockett will serve as the opener before Lambert performs a full-length concert on the streets of The Windy City ahead of the inaugural Cup Series race.
Two-day reserved tickets with a variety of perks are currently available for Chicago race weekend starting at $465. Two-day general admission tickets to the race starting at $269 will go on sale to the public Thursday, February 2 at 10am CT. All ticket prices include taxes and fees.
“The Chicago Street Race is truly a unique two-day sporting and entertainment event in NASCAR’s 75-year history,” said Chicago Street Race President Julie Giese. “We’re proud to welcome superstars The Chainsmokers, Miranda Lambert, The Black Crowes and Charley Crockett as we reinvent the NASCAR experience in the heart of downtown Chicago for the weekend of July 4th.”
The weekend in Chicago won’t be the first time The Chainsmokers have attended pre-race celebrations. The duo also did so during a two-day music festival leading up to the 2017 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which also featured Major Lazer as a co-headliner.
Additionally, a report surfaced in 2021 revealing that The Chainsmokers’ Kick the Habit Productions had teamed up with Will Smith, Amazon Studios and NASCAR for a racing-themed romantic comedy. No further updates have been provided since the original report in August 2021.
The Black Crowes also have ties to NASCAR. The group performed a concert prior to the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series All-Star Challenge at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Ryan Newman started from pole but Hall of Famer Mark Martin won the race for the second time in his career.
A unique crossover between the NASCAR world and the music is of course a video by Lambert. Fastest Girl in Town debuted in 2012 and featured then-JR Motorsports driver Danica Patrick as one of the stars.
The race on the streets of Chicago doesn’t take place until the first weekend in July, but Circuit President Julie Giese and NASCAR have been working hard to prepare for this unique event.
There have been some updates to the track layout and concert lineup, but more updates are on the way. For example, there will be a special layout for the Chicago street race promo car.
Three designs are currently being considered for the slide. Fans can vote for their favorite and tell NASCAR whether they want the Chevrolet Camaro to feature a white, light blue, or dark blue scheme.
In addition to the result of the system tuning, there will also be updates on some special guests in the future. NASCAR needs to make announcements about honorary starter and grand marshal.
