Leicester Tigers take on Saracens as the two most decorated teams in English rugby union this century meet at Twickenham to be crowned Premiership champions.
It’s been a long road for Leicester nine years after they last reached the final and have lost a string of semi-finals in the meantime. But under Steve Borthwick they have improved dramatically over the past two years, finishing the league season at the top with 20 wins from 24 games. They face Saracens, who have returned from the Championship and fought straight back to the top of the Premiership. Owen Farrell is in fine form and his half-fight against England team-mate and longtime friend George Ford will be the focus of this game.
“Owen’s a guy who’s going to show up as a talisman for the Saracens. He’s brilliant and it’s an exciting challenge to face one of the best full-backs in the world,” said England full-back Freddie Steward this week. “George is incredible, one of those players that you appreciate more when you play with him. The time he creates for others and how he brings it into space is magical.”
