Despite opponents like Spain and Greece, Sweden are group first in the World Cup qualifiers. In the last game there was another victory – and the help of a ball girl.
After beating Greece 2-0, Sweden is still clearly on course for the World Cup. The Scandinavians have two game days before the end of qualification two points ahead of Spain and thus everything is in their own hands. And the Greeks were not an easy opponent, after all, they stumbled Spain on the first matchday (1-1) and had won the first leg against Sweden 2-1.
That is why Emil Forsberg’s team took every opportunity to win the game. When the score was 2-0, the attacking player from Rasenballsport Leipzig went to the sidelines and asked a ball girl to give the opponent the ball only after a delay. The 14-year-old Valeria had a wish of her own for Forsberg, as she explained to the tabloid “Expressen”: “I actually asked him about his jersey and he told me that I could have it if I could help them. Taking time off the clock. He was very nice, of course I wanted to help. “

After the game there was the reward, Forsberg presented Valeria with his jersey. “She was great, so she got the jersey. It was an important and good success for us,” he said after the game.
Sweden already has 15 points after six games, Spain only 13. The Spaniards will have to go to Greece next match day, while Sweden will face outsiders Georgia. On the last day of the match there will be a direct encounter between the top teams in Seville. Then at the latest it will be decided who has a secure place in the World Cup and who has to go to the play-offs.
