It is Lewis Hamilton’s favorite track, at least when it comes to his victories: it is now certain that Formula 1 will continue to drive in Barcelona in the future. The long-term contract will be continued.

Formula 1 will continue to run in Spain until at least 2026. The bosses of the motorsport premier class extended the contract with the operators of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya accordingly. The deal includes improvements to the track and buildings ahead of next year’s race on May 22nd.

“The teams and drivers look forward to driving on the course and coming to Barcelona every time,” said Formula 1 managing director Stefano Domenicali in a statement on Friday. The circuit near the Catalan metropolis has been used since 1991. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes has been unbeaten there since 2017.
