Saturday night’s UFC 275 co-main event saw Valentina Shevchenko defend her belt against Taila Santos in the women’s flyweight division.

Santos entered the Octagon as the No. 4 fighter in the division according to the official UFC rankings. And Shevchenko stepped into the cage for her seventh title defense. And as history goes, “Bullet” has reached her eighth place.

Although Santos defeated most of the arguments, Shevchenko recovered in the fifth and the judges awarded her the win by split decision (48-47, 47-48, 49-46).

Shevchenko has been undefeated since moving to the UFC flyweight division in 2018. And with the win, Bullet improved her mixed martial arts record to 23-3. On the other hand, Santos’ winning streak was cut short in four fights and her record dropped to 19-2.

Here are some of the top reactions from Twitter.

Former multiple UFC title challenger Kenny Florian tweeted: “Apparently if you finish the fight almost on your feet you win the round clearly. If you almost finish the fight on the ground, it probably won’t do anything. Shevchenko is an excellent fighter but criticized mistakes tonight and I thought she lost tonight.”

Former two-part UFC champion Henry Cejudo tweeted, “I love Valentina and am a fan of Valentina but the judging criteria need improvement. Keep the sport honest folks. 49-46?!?”

“The MMA Hour’s” Ariel Helwani tweeted, “Let the angry tweets pour in!!!”

“Not usually for immediately hitting back when the champion saves, but considering that headbutt, I wouldn’t hate it one bit,” Helwani continued.

Morning Kombat’s Luke Thomas wrote: “Hey, where are all the idiots who assured me Santos would be crushed in the first when I said she’s statistically just a tiny tick behind Shevchenko? So strange they magically disappeared!”

Ex-UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos wrote: “Tough fight but I think the Brazilian won.”

Reigning UFC 135-pound champion Aljamain Sterling tweeted, “I need to be sober about this fight because I’m confused. Great fight either way!”

MMA bettor Luca Fury tweeted: “I’m betting 3-2 Shechenko but who knows? Too close to be confident either way or to scream rob regardless of the outcome.”

He continued: “Ha, fun cards. 4-1 x2 for Shevchenko and 3-2 x1 for Santos. 3-2 is probably right either way, although in my live opinion Shevchenko is clear. I’m curious how I would rate it when rewatching. #UFC275.”

Heavy’s Kelsey McCarson tweeted: “Great fight! I thought Valentina had won but it was super close.”

One fan tweeted: “Winning Valentina is fine but Sus 49-46. Taila had the back several times, the problem was that the rear naked chokes were close but negated. A bad trip shouldn’t steal Valentina’s 1st place because Taila didn’t push her from behind. Rnd 1,4, & 5: Valentina & Rnd. 2 & 3: Talia.”
