Barcelona have confirmed that winger Francisco Trincao, 22, is the latest player to leave the Camp Nou this summer and join Portuguese side Sporting.
Trincao cost Barcelona €31m in July 2020 when he arrived from Braga but is on a season-long loan. The Catalan giants confirmed the details in a statement on the club’s official website.
“FC Barcelona and Sporting Clube de Portugal have reached an agreement on the loan of Francisco Trincão until June 30, 2023. The deal includes an option to buy the player after the loan period expires.”
Barcelona receives €3m for Trincao now and another €7m at the end of the season if a number of goals are met, as reported by Diario Sport. The Catalans also have a buyback clause should Trincao’s move become permanent.
The Portuguese youngster made 43 appearances in his first season at Barcelona, scoring three goals and providing two assists before being loaned out to Wolves for the 2022-23 season.
While the Premier League side had the option of signing Trincao on a permanent basis, they decided against it. Trincao now follows Ferran Jutgla, Dani Alves, Philippe Coutinho and Clement Lenglet who leave Barca this summer.

Trincao has revealed his move to Sporting after completing his move from Barcelona. The winger told the club’s official website he was ready for a new challenge back home.
“I’m really happy to be here, it’s what I’ve wanted for a while and it’s finally come true. I’m here to do my best and help the club to the fullest,” he said. “I think I’ve grown a lot in the last few years and that will help me this season. I want to develop further and do my best in every training session and in every game. I will give everything so that Sporting CP can do my best.”
Sporting finished second in Portugal last season, six points behind champions Porto. The team’s second-place finish means they will play in the 2022-23 Champions League.
Trincao’s departure comes amid news that Barcelona have agreed a deal to bring in winger Raphinha from Leeds United, while Ousmane Dembele will also stay at the club and sign a new two-year deal.
The presence of both wingers means coach Xavi will have a wealth of options next season, especially as he also has Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati in his first-team squad.
Memphis Depay is also available but speculation is mounting he could now be considered overwhelmed. Reporter Gerard Romero has claimed Memphis could be offered to Sevilla in a deal to sign centre-back Jules Kounde, Sport reports.
The defender is valued at around €60m but Barcelona may be ready to offer a fee of €35m-40m and include Memphis, who is in the last year of his Barcelona contract, in the deal.
