It’s not often that a player considered the best in the NFL at his position changes teams. Luckily for the Las Vegas Raiders, Davante Adams wanted to join the team and he is widely considered the best wide receiver in the NFL. Players like Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Cooper Kupp and Stefon Diggs may argue that they are the best wide receivers in the NFL, but the consensus is in Adams’ favor.

Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson may have had the case of being the league’s top wide receiver during his prime. He hasn’t been in the NFL for a while now, but he’s still in it and regularly trains with the best players in the league. There was a question from Pro Football Focus as to whether Adams is actually the best wide receiver in the NFL. Johnson had a blunt answer to the question. Warning: His comments could be considered NSFW.

As a six-time Pro Bowler, Johnson knows a thing or two about great wide receiver play. He seems confident that Adams is the best in the league, so a lot of former players probably feel that way.

It’s hard to argue against the idea that Adams is the best of all wide receivers. He has 2,927 receiving yards with 29 touchdown receptions over the past two seasons. The only argument against him is that throughout his career he has teamed with Aaron Rodgers, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Still, CBS Sports ranked Adams as the best wide receiver heading into 2022:

A big similarity between Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and Rodgers is that they both take time to get to grips with new wide receivers. However, there will be no trial period with Carr and Adams. The two played together at Fresno State and trained together while in the NFL.

They’ve put in a lot of work this off-season as well. Adams will be the focus of the Raiders’ offense and will see a lot of goals. Carr isn’t Rodgers, but he’s still a very good quarterback. Adams won’t see a big drop in the numbers now that he’s in Las Vegas. If anything, he might have an easier time dominating having elite weapons alongside him in Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller.
