WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair will return to the ring for one last time this July at the age of 73, the veteran wrestler sensationally revealed on social media
WWE Hall of Famer and 16-time former World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair will make one last spectacular return to the ring this July at the age of 73.
Despite his recent health issues, Flair announced on Twitter that he would put the rumors to bed by confirming he has one final match and in a nod to his past, the show will go under the Jim Crockett Promotions banner.
A post on the veteran wrestler’s Twitter account said: “The rumors are true! I’ll walk this walk, style and profile, one last time! July 31st! Nashville, Tennessee! Jim Crockett Promotions! I’ll prove it one more time, To be the man you gotta beat the man! Now let’s go to school! WOOOOO!”
A full press release on the Starrcast website provides more information about the game, stating that Flair’s final opponent and the full map of events will be announced at a later date.
The statement read, “On July 31 at 6:05 p.m. EDT, ‘The Nature Boy’ will feature Ric Flair, whom many consider to be the greatest professional wrestler of all time, one last time as part of ‘Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match’ wrestling event.
“At the world-renowned Nashville Fairgrounds, the 16-time former heavyweight champion will don a new, custom-made gown and perform the one-of-a-kind show that has made Flair a cultural icon in his 40+ years in the professional wrestling biz.”
Flair added, “I’m going to walk that aisle, one last time, to prove once and for all that you have to beat the man to be the man.”
According to Inside the Ropes, former WCW announcer Chris Cruise has previously expressed dissatisfaction with Flair returning to the ring given his recent health issues.
Cruise urged fans to contact their local athletic commissions to prevent Flair from being licensed to return to the ring.
