Sinaloa cartel leader El Mayo has announced his intention to invade the Mexican state of Veracruz with 500 hitmen and take out the leader of a rival gang in a chilling message
The world’s most powerful drug cartel boss has reportedly sent 500 “soldiers” to take out a rival gang and burn down nightclubs in enemy territories.
Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada has been the leader of the notorious Sinaloa Cartel — believed to be the most powerful drug trafficking organization in the world — since the arrest of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán in 2016.
In a letter circulating online, El Mayo appears to be threatening Ivan “El Tanque” Casarin Molina, who runs the operations of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the Mexican state of Veracruz.
Although there has been no official confirmation that the letter is genuine, Borderland Beat reports that cartels often call out fake narco news, which was not the case in this case.
In the letter, addressed to the “People of Veracruz,” El Mayo announces his intention to wrest control of the territory from the CJNG.
He also accuses the rival gang of several crimes against the civilian population of the state and threatens them with a “cleansing”.
The letter begins: “Today, May 11, 2022, we announce through this communiqué the arrival of 200 troops stationed from Chiapas, Tabasco and Cancún.
“And in the next few days another 300 will arrive in the port of Veracruz to crush the Jaliskans for good.
“And today Veracruz is being taken by these delinquents and soon Oaxaca as well.”
El Mayo then sends a chilling message to El Tanque and two of his lieutenants, continuing: “We are announcing a general purge. I come for you, El Tanque, 80 Semáforo or Luz Apagada, kidnapper and murderer of innocents and current head of Veracruz State Square.
“We have addresses of vendors, puntos, kidnappers, safe houses and officials and if they don’t match us, they will be exposed in Narcomantas in the coming days [messages] placed across the country.”
The drug lord goes on to name a number of Veracruz nightclubs that “will be burned down, either with people in them or with no people in them” if they don’t join the Sinaloa cartel.
Cuitláhuac García Jiménez, the governor of Veracruz, is also threatened. The letter accused him of throwing parties “where you hire men to fuck you.”
El Mayo bids farewell by imposing an 10:30pm curfew in Veracruz, promising civilians they will no longer be victims of extortion or kidnapping by the CJNG.
