A man has died after he and his girlfriend crossed a security chain to stand on the edge of a pier and struck an iconic pose from the Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet-directed film Titanic

A guy trying to recreate the iconic flying pose from the Titanic movie with his girlfriend has drowned after the couple fell into the sea.

The couple had chosen the edge of a pier for their stunt, but their recreation of the film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, was fatal when they fell into the ocean.

Furkan Ciftci and his girlfriend Mine Dinar, both 23, fell into the sea after trying to perfect the iconic pose after drinking alcohol on a fishing trip.

The couple wanted to recreate the iconic “King of the World” pose from the Oscar-winning feature film, but their performance went horribly wrong when Ciftci drowned as the couple fell off the pier.

The couple had reportedly crossed a safety chain to pose on the edge of the pier, with the couple falling into the water shortly after their attempt to recreate the iconic scene from the James Cameron-directed feature film.

Nearby fishermen saw the couple fall into the sea and rushed to the rescue, rescuing Mine after she grabbed the end of a fishing rod.

She was taken to safety, but her boyfriend, Ciftci, disappeared under the waves and emergency services were called to the scene to search for the 23-year-old.

Mein was taken to the hospital by ambulance and Ciftci’s lifeless body was pulled from the sea by a dive team two hours after the ordeal.

Speaking to police, Mine said she and her partner found it funny recreating the “Titanic pose” and that the pair had crossed the chain to stand on the edge of the pier when they subsequently lost their balance.

CCTV footage showed the couple’s final moments together as they set out chairs on the pier to start fishing.

Ciftci’s body is set to undergo an autopsy before the burial, with the investigation into the incident continuing.
