The daughter of Michael Owen, a senior microbiologist, and the first-ever deaf islander are among them this year island of love Attendees.

The 2022 series is almost here, with a new cast of singletons preparing to head to the villa this summer.

The ITV2 dating show returns next Monday (6 June) with a brand new series after last year’s show was won by Millie Court and Liam Reardon.

This year’s group of participants will take part in inclusion training before the start of the 2022 season.

On Monday (May 30) the first batch of this year’s island of love Candidates have been announced. Among them are Gemma, daughter of soccer player Michael Owens, and Tasha, the series’ first deaf islander.

Here are your 2022 island of love to water…

24-year-old Paige goes to the island of love Villa hoping to find romance after lamenting poor harvests in her hometown of Swansea. She just got out of a relationship but has had trouble communicating with anyone on their dates and describes herself as the “mom” of the group.

“If I had to pick one typical dish, it would probably be Sunday lunch,” she said. “My hash browns are up there, I think Gordon Ramsay would be impressed.”

Dami has decided to leave his Dublin home and enter the villa as part of his year-long attempt at “trying new things”. His trick to finding love is to be himself. “I don’t know if I’m going to cause trouble, I’ll try not to cause trouble, but sometimes you don’t cause trouble on purpose — but it happens!” he said.

Discussing what he brings to a relationship, Dami said, “I’m really good at being a team and really caring about each other,” attributing the quality to his Aries zodiac sign.

Indiah is 23 and comes from London. She goes to the villa hoping to meet new people after being single for a while. Her previous partners were quite different, and she says she’s never “dated two guys who are pretty much the same.”

“I feel like I’ll bring a lot of flavor and vibrancy,” Indiyah said of joining island of love. “I feel like I’m a pretty down to earth person, so meeting a lover or friend shouldn’t be a problem.”

En route to the mansion from his hometown of Newport, South Wales, Liam is studying for a Masters in Strength and Conditioning. He’s 22, which he says is a “really nice age” to find a partner because “you’ve still got your years ahead of you, so you have time to experience things and grow together.”

When asked how his friends and family would describe him, Liam said: “They would probably say quite generous, quite caring, happy, talkative, perky, lively. I wear my heart on my sleeve, I can’t hide my feelings for anyone. I’m probably pretty emotional too, thinking about it.”

Self-proclaimed “party animal” Tasha is the next contestant to join island of love 2022. The 23-year-old model and dancer hails from Thirsk in North Yorkshire and describes her dating life as “a shambles”.

Tasha is also the first deaf islander to appear on the show. “I find [my friends and family] would say that I’m inspirational because of my hearing and my cochlear implant,” she said. “I inspire a lot of people because I’m really open about it.”

Gemma may only be 19, but she’s no stranger to traveling the world in the spotlight. Originally from Chester, she owns her own business and has competed for Great Britain in dressage since she was 11 years old. Sport is clearly in her blood as she is the daughter of English footballer Michael Owen.

When asked what she would bring to the villa, she said: “I’d say I’m fun, flirty and fiery. I think I’m good at giving advice, I’m a good conversationalist, I’m very honest. If I want the same guy, I would, but in a nice, respectful way.”
