Sadia died as temperatures soared to 49 degrees Celsius, which would have brought the inside of the car to 76 degrees Celsius, high enough to roast a chicken.
By the time her parents finally remembered her, she was already unconscious and medical professionals could only confirm her death from heat exhaustion and asphyxiation.
The head of Ramhormoz’s forensic department, Dr. Gholamreza Haidarnejad said: “A young couple left their four-year-old child asleep in a car as they mourned the loss of the little girl’s aunt.
“The parents, who chose not to wake the child, then forgot about it during the funeral due to their distress.
“The child was left in the car for several hours in hot, sunny weather with the car doors locked.”
The doctor added that the child died due to stress, heat intensity and lack of oxygen.
