Texas police investigate a shooting at a county fair

Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas told ABC 7 Amarillo that just before 11 p.m. Monday, a man opened fire on Potter County lawmakers at the mess hall.

20 September (News) — Texas law enforcement officials said they are investigating a shooting at the Tri-State Fair in Amarillo that resulted in four people being hospitalized.

An off-duty deputy, an off-duty firefighter and a bystander were shot and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers returned fire and the suspect was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Those present said there was chaos and people started running immediately after the gunfire.

Jonathan Archer told ABC 7 his father, who runs a food stand, told him a shooting had taken place at one of the stands.

The Tri-State Fair & Rodeo is the largest annual event in the Texas Panhandle, averaging 130,000 visitors, according to the fair’s website.
