A pair of squirrels were found tied together and hanging from a telephone pole in Kent, according to the RSPCA.

The rodents were said to have had parts of their tails cut off and tied with electric cables, according to the charity workers, who described the incident as “callous and terrible”.

The RSPCA said it believed at least one of the gray squirrels was still alive when it was found 15 feet high on the mast.

It happened on Sunday, November 7th, at Watercress Drive in Sevenoaks, Kent.

Emma Byrne, an animal rescue officer for the RSPCA, said the treatment of the squirrels was “extremely worrying and bizarre”.

She added: “This was a callous and terrible cruelty against two defenseless animals. One of the squirrels also had a bloody nose.

“We know from the testimony of the witness that at least one of the squirrels was alive when they were handcuffed, and this whole ordeal would have caused them a great deal of suffering and fear.”

Anyone with information can call Ms. Byrne on 0300 123 8018.
