Police say Liese Dodd’s headless body was found by her horrified mother, who stopped by her home in Illinois, US, to see how the pregnancy was progressing

A heavily pregnant US woman was beheaded by a “freaking wild monster” while her ex was arrested for her murder, police say.

After 22-year-old Liese Dodd didn’t get in touch for a while, her concerned mother Heidi Noel visited her home in Alton, Illinois to see how she was doing.

Heidi found her daughter’s headless body lying on the floor of the apartment, the young woman’s head was later found in garbage cans outside the apartment building.

Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido says officers were traumatized by what they saw at the scene.

He said: “What has been observed, what has been learned, what has been found is absolutely horrific,” he said. “She was decapitated by a bloody wild monster.”

“What she went through … can leave some people speechless,” Pulido added.

The police have now arrested Liese’s ex-boyfriend Deundrea S. Holloway on suspicion of murder. Holloway, 22, was already in custody on an unrelated charge when officers eventually located him.

Holloway had been apprehended by police investigating a bicycle theft but had refused to give his name.

Gillespie Police Chief Jared DePoppe told reporters that the suspect had been “combative and uncooperative” when they picked him up and tried to bang his head against the wall and refused to sit down.

It was only later that officers found out that the “John Doe” they had in custody was Holloway.

Holloway is also on parole for a 2019 robbery. According to Macoupin County Prosecutor Jordan Garrison, he had confessed in court to stealing cash from his friend on his way to buy marijuana.

Holloway has now been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in Dodd’s death and two counts of first-degree murder of an unborn child, Madison County Attorney Thomas Haine said in a statement Monday.

The multiple charges are standard in Illinois to give the jury some flexibility in their verdicts.

Holloway is also accused of dismembering a human body, covering up a murder and possessing a stolen car.

Holloway is currently in prison on a $2,000,000 bond issue.
