The shark chased the dolphin in the shallows and bit down on the injured animal with its sharp teeth, but onlookers were stunned to see beachgoers coming up close to watch the gruesome fight
Video captured by beachgoers shows a gruesome fight between an injured dolphin and a hungry shark, with blood in the water, on a Florida beach.
The horrifying scene happened at Jacksonville’s Huguenot Memorial Park in April 2021, but footage has recently resurfaced on Reddit and Twitter as people commented on the “insane” shark attack.
In the clip, two beachgoers are confused by the sighting as they stand just meters from where the hunt is unraveling.
The apex predator thrashes violently in the water while attacking the dolphin in the shallows.
The water turns red as the shark bites the injured dolphin, which is struggling to escape its jaws.
Resident Chris Polinsky wrote: “A ‘jet skier’ jumped off his jet ski to swim with the dolphin, unaware of the danger.
“It appeared that while holding it, the shark came and bit it again while holding it, and then the video starts after realizing what happened.”
He also mentioned that the Florida Wildlife Commission had been pursuing this dolphin after receiving reports that a shark had bitten the creature.
This happened multiple times in open water and officers attempted to avoid the shark.
“Local officials forced everyone to get out of the water because they didn’t know exactly what was happening at the time,” added Chris.
The video went viral early last week as viewers commented on the reactions of beachgoers.
“Why don’t you help them dissolve it?!” wrote one bizarre.
Another said: “What should he do? Collect the Infinity Stones and snap your fingers?”
“Bro goofy just stood there and got all that shark blood on him,” added a third.
