Because the corona numbers are exploding, Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder wants to reintroduce the instrument, which expired at the end of June. This would be linked to strict nationwide uniform corona rules.
In view of the dramatic corona situation, Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has called for a rapid federal emergency brake for all of Germany and a general vaccination requirement that will apply from January. “Only the general compulsory vaccination frees us from the endless Corona loop,” said Söder on Friday in Rosenheim. “Only the general compulsory vaccination leads to social peace in the end.”
He appealed to the federal government and the traffic light parties to ensure that a statutory vaccination is mandatory as soon as possible. “Agree on a compulsory vaccination from the new year, from January 1st,” demanded Söder. This would help improve vaccination numbers. A partial compulsory vaccination for medical professions, for example, would not have much effect in his opinion. “We have to get out of this crisis,” warned Söder.
Söder emphasized that the increasing number of new corona infections are not just a problem for Bavaria or East Germany. It is a “national phenomenon”. A “complete overload of the German, but also of the regional health system” is to be feared. In addition to the previous measures, a uniform federal regulation is therefore needed.
“We are exhausting everything, but it will not be enough,” emphasized Söder, referring to the measures taken so far. The new government must ensure an “effective national containment strategy” and set in motion a “uniform federal emergency brake for all of Germany”. The Prime Minister’s Conference must also meet earlier. Every week of the delay means a dramatization of the situation for the clinics.
In April, at the urging of Angela Merkel, the federal and state governments decided nationwide strict corona rules from an incidence value of 100 – such as contact and exit restrictions as well as the closing of shops and schools. The law expired at the end of June.
