PASADENA, CALIFORNIA. (KABC) — A worker suffered severe burns when a fire broke out during a quinceañera in Pasadena on Saturday night, authorities said.
It happened in the Banquet Hall of the Imperial Event Venue on Lake Avenue and Washington Boulevard.
According to a spokesman for the Pasadena Fire Department, the fire started in the kitchen exhaust system and spread throughout the building. When firefighters arrived, several people were still inside.
They quickly began evacuating guests and were able to get everyone out safely, the fire department said.
Investigators regretted that the worker, who was taken to hospital in critical condition, fell through part of the roof.
No other injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
According to the banquet hall’s website, the facility includes a 4,500-square-foot ballroom and can accommodate up to 400 guests.
