An 81-year-old was hit by a school bus on Monday and died. The woman crossed the street at a roundabout with a walker, a police spokesman said on Tuesday. A school bus, which was occupied by about 20 children, drove out of the roundabout in the Bavarian town of Siegsdorf (Traunstein district) on Monday afternoon and caught the elderly woman. The woman from Siegsdorf suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident and was reanimated on site. In the hospital, however, the 81-year-old died in the afternoon from her injuries.
The 44-year-old bus driver and the 20 school children were unharmed. The children were picked up at the scene of the accident by their parents or went home. According to the police, the children should now be looked after. In order to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, the Traunstein public prosecutor ordered an expert opinion.
