Gleycy Correia’s family claim there was medical malpractice during the operation, which should have been routine, but left the 27-year-old in a coma

A former Miss Brazil winner has reportedly died aged just 27 after routine tonsillectomy left her brain dead and in a coma for two months.

Now Gleycy Correia’s family are claiming there was a medical error during the operation that should have been routine.

The beauty queen, from Macae, southeastern Brazil, died at a private hospital on June 20 after reportedly suffering severe bleeding and a heart attack just days after her tonsillectomy surgery.

Family Priestess Lidiane Alves Oliveira explained: “Her tonsils were operated on and after five days at home she had a bleeding.

“She went to Unimed and went into cardiac arrest on April 4th and has been in a coma with no neurological activity since. Today she died.”

Her body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute of Macae for an autopsy.

Pastor Jak Abreu, who knows Gleycy’s family, wrote on social media that their loved ones believe there was a medical malpractice during the surgery.

He added: “God chose this day to pick up our princess. We know we will miss her dearly, but she will light up the sky with her smile right now.”

Gleycy’s funeral will be held at 11:30 am on June 21st.

She was crowned Miss Continentes Unidos Brasil (Miss United Continents Brazil) in 2018.

She was also an entrepreneur specializing in permanent makeup, reshaping the areolas of women suffering from breast cancer.

“We ask for your prayers for family and friends for the Holy Spirit to bring comfort at this difficult time!”
