SANTA PAULA, California. (KABC) — Classes at Santa Paula High School were canceled after a massive fire broke out in the school’s gymnasium on Sunday.
The fire broke out shortly after 12:30 a.m
When the fire brigade arrived, the gym was already on fire and thick smoke was coming from the roof. The fire was contained to that building but a wall collapsed, according to authorities.
Residents were temporarily evacuated as a precaution.
“Due to the structural damage and school-wide impact of the fire at Bryden Gym, the Santa Paula Unified School District and Santa Paula High School Administration will release a school board statement Monday and Tuesday, 28.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
