A mother who subjected her son to horrific incest abuse for five years and used “nap” as a code word for sex has been named for the first time by her children

Two brothers have bravely revealed the identity of their mother, who subjected one of them to pathological incest abuse for five years.

Julie Menard, a bus driver from Ottawa, Canada, was sentenced last week to a decade in prison for incest, sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching and assaulting her son Jonathan Lepage, who was just 10 years old when the abuse began

A court overheard the mother calling her child to bed for a nap before performing the ill acts on him.

The horrific abuse only stopped when Jonathan started fighting her after he turned 15 after realizing that regular sex with his own mother wasn’t normal.

As a teenager, Jonathan also discouraged Menard from caring for his younger brother, who was regularly beaten by body hitting him in the living room.

However, a court ban on publication meant that Menard could not be named publicly despite the conviction – until the now adult sons had the measure lifted on Friday (May 6).

After she was first identified, Jonathan, now 35, told the Ottawa Citizen: “It was important for the community to know her name. That’s part of justice. She can no longer hide.

“She was hiding. Those incidents took place at our home and nobody was the wiser, so her name is known now.”

He added that Menard “lost the mother’s label” because of her sickening crimes, and said it was important to the family and community that she be named and shamed, since neither he nor his brother are children who are anymore needed protection.

In court, Ontario Court Justice Trevor Brown took several hours to render a verdict last week.
