WASHINGTON– The Justice Department searched the Delaware home of President Joe Biden and seized more items containing classified information, his attorneys said Saturday.

The DOJ on Friday searched Biden’s Wilmington residence and found six items consisting of documents with classification marks, some from his Senate days in addition to his tenure as vice president during the Obama administration.

The agents made handwritten notes from his years as vice president.

The search lasted about 12 hours, starting at 9:45 a.m. and ending around 10:30 p.m., according to Biden’s personal attorney Bob Bauer.

“The DOJ had full access to the President’s home, including personally handwritten notes, files, papers, binders, memorabilia, to-do lists, schedules and memories dating back decades,” Bauer said in a statement.

Bauer said they “offered immediate access to his home so the DOJ could conduct a search of the entire property” after some documents were found at the Wilmington residence in late December and again earlier this month.

White House Counsel Richard Sauber said in a separate statement emphasizing cooperation with the Justice Department. Sauber added that neither Biden nor First Lady Jill Biden were at the residence when the search took place.

“The President’s attorneys and the White House Office will continue to work with the DOJ and the Special Counsel to ensure this process is conducted quickly and efficiently,” said Sauber.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel on Jan. 12 to investigate Biden’s handling of classified documents.

Biden himself commented on the matter during a trip to California on Thursday, telling reporters, “There’s nothing there.”

“We found a handful of documents … that were filed in the wrong place, we immediately turned them over to the (national) archives and the Ministry of Justice,” he said. “We are fully cooperating and look forward to resolving this quickly.”

“I think you’ll find there’s nothing there,” he continued. “I regret nothing. I follow what the lawyers told me what they want from me. It’s exactly what we do. There is no ‘there’. Thanks.”
