Bald eagle rescued after truck collision on New York freeway

The Suffolk County Police Department said Highway Patrol Officer Cody Matthews, along with New York State Department Environmental Protection Commissioner Nick Perkins, responded when a woman reported hitting a low-flying bald eagle on the top of a truck on the Sunrise Highway on Thursday to see.

23 September (News) — Police in New York came to the rescue of a bald eagle found on a freeway after colliding with a truck.

When the emergency services arrived, they found the eagle apparently injured on the side of the road.

The officials managed to force the bird of prey into a cage and take it to a rehabilitation center. The eagle is now being treated for a broken wing.
