A 12-year-old girl, Ava White, was stabbed to death in Liverpool city center Thursday night.

Four boys – 13 years old, two 14 years old and one 15 years old – were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police believe Ava and her friends had a verbal argument that resulted in Ava being attacked and “causing catastrophic injuries.” The perpetrators then ran away, as the police overheard.

At 8:39 p.m., police officers were called to report an attack. When they got there, they found that Ava, who was with friends, had collapsed on the floor.

A member of the public who witnessed the incident provided first aid.

Paramedics tried to help Ava and took her to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, but unfortunately she died a short time later.

There was a lot going on in the city center at the time because the lights on the Christmas tree had just officially been switched on. The police are calling on anyone who saw the incident or recorded it on their cell phone to come forward.

Vice Chief Constable Jon Roy said, “Our thoughts and condolences go to Ava’s family, supported by specialist Family Liaison Officers. Their world is torn and no parent should ever have to face police knocking to say their child has died. “

He added, “Ava’s death should remind us all of the role we must all play in eliminating violence against women and girls.”
