An exotic African caracal cat that escaped from a Michigan home was safely captured and returned to its owner, animal rescuers said.
South Lyon’s Murphy Lost Animal Recovery said the caracal fled its owner’s home in Royal Oak on Wednesday morning and found himself in a courtyard later that evening. The rescue team was able to set a trap in which the cat was caught around 11 p.m.
The rescue group shared a video of the trapped cat on Facebook.
The caracal was one of two who escaped from the owner’s house when a gate was left open. The first animal was caught shortly after escaping when it was spotted near the Royal Oak Schools administration building.
According to the police, caracals are not regulated by the state.
