The seven-day incidence in Germany has risen to a new high of 497.1. The number of new infections is also still very high, reports the RKI.
The incidence of new corona infections in Germany has again reached a new high. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the nationwide seven-day incidence on Saturday morning at 497.1. The previous maximum of 470.6 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week was reported on Friday. On Saturday last week, the seven-day incidence was 335.9.
The RKI gave the number of detected new corona infections on Saturday as 78,022. The day before, a new nationwide daily high was reached with 92,223 cases.
As the RKI further announced, citing data from the health authorities, 235 new deaths related to the corona virus were counted on Saturday. According to the latest information from the institute, the health authorities have recorded a total of 7,913,473 cases of infection since the beginning of the pandemic. The total number of registered corona deaths in Germany is now 115,572. The RKI puts the number of people in Germany who have recovered from an illness caused by the coronavirus at around 6,942,400.
The highly contagious omicron variant of the corona virus is currently rampant in Germany. As the RKI stated in its current weekly report, Omicron is now also the dominant corona variant in this country.
