Families are seeing the prices of basic goods like heating, rent and groceries rising by £400 a month, according to a new analysis showing the depth of the UK’s cost of living crisis.
It found that low-income families with two children were among the hardest hit, as the cost of living rose 13 percent annually — much higher than the official rate of 9 percent.
That’s largely because they’re spending more on fuel and groceries, which have seen some of the sharpest price increases. Lowest-income families will be hit harder and sooner than others, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) said.
