The average household energy bill is expected to reach £3,359 a year from October and remain at that level – or higher – through the end of 2023, according to a new analysis.

That means energy bills will remain at more than two and a half times their pre-crisis levels over the next 17 months.

Cornwall Insight, one of the country’s most respected energy advisors, said the price cap on energy bills, which governs what 24 million UK households pay, will reach a staggering £3,359 a year from October, rising to £3,616 and £3,729 in January and April 2023.
