BP’s profit tripled to $8.5 billion (£7bn) in the most recent quarter – a 14-year high – as families struggled to afford rising household energy bills.

The oil giant on Tuesday announced earnings for April-June, up from $2.8 billion in the second quarter of 2021 and even higher than first-quarter earnings of $6.2 billion, the highest since March 10 years.

So far this year, BP has made $14.7 billion — almost triple the $5.4 billion it generated in the first half of 2021
