In season 19 of “Project Runway”, Elle Magazine’s editor-in-chief Nina Garcia, former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief and co-host of “The Talk” Elaine Welteroth and star designer Brandon Maxwell can be seen pulling their hats on with Christian Siriano Judges and mentors. While we eagerly await the show’s premiere, let’s take a closer look at Octavio and his growing popularity in the fashion industry.

Who is Octavio Aguilar?

Octavio Aguilar is a 42-year-old American fashion designer from Puerto Rico. He was raised in New Jersey by a single mother. Octavio’s interest in fashion and design was aroused at a young age. At the age of 12 he was given his first sewing machine. The enterprising tween created the clubwear of the 90s from it. His venture proved to be a resounding success and led to the fact that he opened his first shop in his hometown.

Although he attended the prestigious Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for a year, he considers himself a self-taught. Octavio took a break from his fashion design world and turned to interior design. After experimenting in the world of interior design for ten years, Octavio was ready for his big comeback in the fashion world. He started his own design label called Dope Tavio. The label specializes in a genderless avant-garde streetwear line.

His designs have featured in many fashion editorials and music videos and have been seen by artists such as Eryka Badu, Janet Jackson and his muse Sharaya J Octavio, now represented by Patricia Field in New York in the ARTFASHION gallery. Its goal is to inspire people to pursue their dreams at any age.

‘Project Runway’ Season 19 premieres on Thursday, October 14 at 9 p.m. ET / PT.
