Melanie Inglessis said she had never seen Johnny Depp physically abuse Amber Heard
After a falling out with Johnny Depp in December 2015, Amber Heard’s former makeup artist reportedly helped the actress cover up an injured face and broken lip. Melanie Inglessis, Heard’s former makeup artist, testified Wednesday, May 18, that she helped Heard hide a split lip and bruises she suffered in a fight with Depp on December 15, 2015. Inglessis explained, “We covered the discoloration, the bruises with a slightly thicker concealer. One with a little more peachy undertone which I don’t normally use for amber, but peaches cancel out blue. So I did that under the eyes.”
Heard testified early in the trial that Depp headbutted, punched and pulled her hair during the altercation. After the argument, Heard called Inglessis, who was also her friend at the time, to her apartment, the makeup artist said. According to Inglessis, she noticed a note scrawled on the kitchen counter that read, “Why are you cheating? the next day to apply Heard’s makeup for her appearance on James Corden’s The Late Late Show.

“Even though Amber always has a red lip — it was one of her signature looks — I remember thinking clearly that night that we have no choice but to lip,” she added. Inglessis claimed Heard had injuries to his face when she arrived at the apartment the next day, including discoloration under both eyes and a split lip, she reported that her right eye was slightly more blue and yellow with discoloration.
Inglessis said, “I used a different type of concealer that I wouldn’t normally use on Amber. I used a concealer with a peachy undertone. Inglessis stated that she had never physically abused Depp Heard, although she once applied arnica gel to minimize swelling. Heard previously said at trial that she intentionally used her makeup kit to cover up bruises so others would not see injuries in paparazzi images. “Usually in LA, I get photographed leaving the house, paparazzi-style photos. No woman wants to walk around with a bruise on her face,” Heard explained.
Depp has sued Heard for defamation, saying she destroyed his image and career by suggesting she was a victim of domestic violence in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Heard is questioning the case and has testified for several days on various episodes in which she alleges that Depp physically and sexually abused her. The allegations were refuted by Depp. Depp has sued Heard for defamation, saying she destroyed his image and career by suggesting she was a victim of domestic violence in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.
