Fans have only a few hours left to wait for a new season of The bachelor gets going. This season, Zach Shallcross takes the lead but is a former Bachelor Star Jesse Palmer returns as host. Jesse made his first appearance on the show in 2004, becoming the first professional athlete to do so. Longtime fans of the series may recall Jesse’s major gaffe as a lead when he accidentally gave the wrong name to one of the women during one of the early rose ceremonies. It was the first time something like this had happened on the show, and Jesse pulled former host Chris Harrison aside to help him fix his mistake.

During the two’s romantic chat, Jesse said, “This whole thing is like a dream to me and tomorrow morning I’m going to wake up from that dream in the real world. But I don’t want to wake up in the morning if I can’t wake up with you.”

Looking back, Jesse may have hinted that his and Jessica’s relationship wasn’t long-term ready. He did not offer her a ring during the final rose ceremony. Instead, he pulled out a one-way plane ticket and asked her to escort him back to New York.

The couple split in June 2004, less than a month later The bachelor final aired. Jesse later moved back to Canada, where he grew up, to play for the Canadian Football League.

Originally from Brazil, Fardo eventually moved to New York City to pursue her modeling career. She later found pleasure in being the one behind the camera and added photographers to her talent list.

Jesse proposed to Fardo in 2019 while the couple were traveling to Paris. Shortly thereafter, ABC announced Jesse as the new host of The bachelorHe also revealed that he and Fardo exchanged “I dos” in 2020. The couple will remain married in 2023.
