“Oddly enough, Ryan and I were trying to figure out how on earth we could do a crossover between ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Stranger Things,'” Levy said
Crossovers are nothing new in Hollywood, but what happens when a mercenary with a mouth decides to be part of an ’80s horror show that’s set to become a cult classic? Believe it or not, a Deadpool/Stranger Things crossover could happen if Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds find a way to make it work. The former doesn’t rule it out, so it’s hard to believe if this is actually a running gag.
According to a Variety report, Levy outlined the plan to develop a “Stranger Things Cinematic Universe” and also highlighted the time he spent with Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios. “Yes, we are expanding STCU and now I am spending time with it [chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment] Kevin Feige, I’m learning a lot about managing a universe,” he explained. “So I’m taking those skills and applying them to STCU.” In addition to producing the hit Netflix horror drama, Levy will also direct the third Deadpool film.
When the chatter revolved around a crossover, there was quite a response. “Funny enough, [“Deadpool” star] Ryan [Reynolds] and I was trying to figure out how on earth we could do a crossover between ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Stranger Things,'” he told the outlet. “We haven’t cracked it yet, but it’s on the table.”
As for updates for Season 5 of Stranger Things, scriptwriting is officially underway. The writing team took to Twitter with the caption “Day 1” to mark the start of screenwriting for the final season of the retro horror series. Ahead of the fourth season premiere, The Duffer Brothers confirmed that the show will be coming down the curtain with a fifth season.
“There are many more exciting stories to tell in the world of Stranger Things: new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes,” they said. “But first, we hope you’ll stay with us as we finish this story.” This indicated that more content was in store. The next set of projects reportedly includes a live-action Stranger Things spinoff series based on an original idea.
