THIS is the moment a woman becomes a “human bollard” to stop motorists before they get hit by the police – but who’s wrong?

Footage uploaded to Twitter shows an activist standing in the middle of a road, stopping a motorist from proceeding.

The woman, who is on crutches, is then moved on by police officers before waving at an approaching red van.

At one point, she appears to fall to the ground, but officers quickly help her get back up.

The incident happened on Exchange Street in Norwich.

Car-Free Norwich, which posted the video, said the activist acted to protect the pedestrian and bicycle zone from “unlawful motorists”.

Watch as the car comes close to a cyclist – but who’s wrong?

One tweet read: “Yesterday Lucy acted heroically as a human bollard on Exchange Street to protect the pedestrian and bicycle precinct from unlawful motorists and we received some video.

“Here we see a conversation with a police officer and good support from the public.”

However, it is unclear if the area is actually pedestrian-only, as claimed by the group.

The report went on to say that the cops escorted them to the curb before “encouraging” cars to “drive through the pedestrian zone.”

And the group believes the motorist should be fined by the police for driving in the alleged zone.

Social media users took advantage of the comments to share their thoughts on the topic with shared viewers.

Some doubted that the street in question was actually a pedestrian zone.

A Twitter user said: “I’ve watched this video a few times and nowhere can I see a sign saying there are no vehicles. There’s even a one-way sign, indicating it’s a vehicular street.”

“Isn’t that a van? They probably have legal access at certain times of the day,” asked another.

But others fully supported the “human bollard” activist.

A viewer raged that the lady who was removed was “a disgrace”.

While another said: “On the face of it, this is the police force that makes it possible to break the law. That’s how car-centric we’ve become.”

“Why the hell are the police shoving them out of the way and helping motorists go down a pedestrian walkway?” said another.
