The crystal ball, Palantir, showed Galadriel something devastating and it had to do with Numenor’s future

Numenor is one of the most important places in Middle-earth and certainly the most beautiful. The final episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power gave a glimpse of how beautiful the island kingdom of Numeron was when Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Halbrand were brought to this place. Although they weren’t welcome there and everyone wanted to send them back, we learned a lot about why the human kingdom doesn’t love elves that much.

Going back in history, Numenor was founded on an island lifted from the sea by the Valar in the early Second Age. The island was given to the Three Houses of Edain after they helped defeat Morgoth in battle. In the previous episode, Miriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), the queen regent of Numenor, believed that the return of an elf means something devastating is about to happen, and she cannot see her kingdom in trouble. However, in Episode 4 of The Rings of Power, Miriel and Galadriel saw something that would play an important role in the fight against evil.

In the first scene of the episode, Miriel talks to new mothers and blesses their babies. While talking to one of the mothers, Numenor was hit by a massive earthquake, and just when everyone thought it was over, the castle started shaking again. A few seconds later, the white leaves of Nimloth began to fall and huge waves of water began to pour into the kingdom of Numenor, destroying every inch of the kingdom. However, it soon turned out that Miriel observed all this in a dream.

In another scene, Galadriel returns with the symbol indicating that evil has invaded Middle-earth again and is currently in the Southlands. So Galadriel wanted Miriel to join her in defeating the evil creatures. However, Miriel did nothing, even when Galadriel tried to make her understand by talking about her father and how he was a supporter of the elves, Miriel didn’t say yes to help and cast Galadriel in prison.

In the end, Galadriel managed to get out of prison and get to Miriel’s father’s chambers, where she found out about the poor health of the former ruler. Galadriel and Miriel walked together, reaching a point where Miriel introduced them to Palantir, the indestructible crystal ball. The Queen Regent asked Galadriel to lay her hand on it, and as soon as she did, Galadriel saw the same devastation that Miriel saw in her dream. Miriel told her that all she saw was Numenor’s future and therefore they could not help her because if they did, the kingdom would be doomed.

The queen regent told her that she must save her people and her kingdom from the wrath of the gods and that it would not be wise to help Galadriel. The conversation ended with Miriel telling Galadriel that she would be taken out of the kingdom in the morning and brought back to her kingdom.

Will Miriel have a change of heart? Or will the kingdom of Numenor face the wrath of the Orcs and Saurons? We’ll know when the show returns.
