Teddi Mellencamp was a full-time cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for three seasons. From seasons 8 to 10, rocker John Mellencamp’s daughter was involved in some of the show’s biggest storylines, including the infamous Puppygate scandal and affair drama Denise Richards.
But in September 2020, Teddi shared a video on Instagram to reveal that her days as a RHOBH diamond holder were over. She also poked fun at the perception that she was too “boring” for housewives.
“I don’t want to bore you, but I thought I could give you a little update on what’s going on,” Teddi told fans at the time. “I recently found out that my contract as a ‘housewife’ will not be renewed. Of course, I could give you the standard answer: ‘Oh, we’ve both come to the decision that it’s for the best…’ I won’t do that, I’m not.”
“Of course, when I got the news, I was sad,” she added. “It almost feels like a breakup because you develop such strong relationships with the cast and crew and do incredible things that you probably would never experience without the show.”
Teddi hasn’t left the spotlight after Housewives. She made cameos on seasons 11 and 12 of the Bravo reality show, and she also used her RHOBH fame to start a podcast with her former housewife, Tamra Judge. The pair talk about all things housewifery—and more—on the Two Ts in a Pod podcast.
In May 2022, Teddi posted an Instagram Q&A with fans, where she answered questions about her status as a homemaker.
When a fan asked her if she “would consider going back as a housewife,” Teddi replied, “I’d rather go on the Ultimate Girls Trip than go back to Housewives.”
In case that answer wasn’t clear enough, when another fan asked Teddi if there was “any chance” that she would “hold a diamond again,” she replied, “If I go to Homegoods and buy my own.” “
The mother-of-three revealed she’s still regularly in touch with the RHOBH Fox Force Five – which includes Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna, Dorit Kemsley and Erika Jayne – and told a fan she’s working with her former co- Stars “well” speaks crowd … a few times a week.”
When asked if the RHOBH drama is scripted, Teddi gave a resounding “no.” But she added: “On TV you’re sometimes more animated and caring than in real life. Also, some of us are not shown in all areas of our lives, so what you see is magnified even more.”
Teddi also got serious when he was asked to name a housewife she wouldn’t have in “Two Ts in a Pod.”
“I could do without Denise or Camille,” she replied.
Teddi clashed with Denise Richards during her final season on the show, and later claimed the “Wild Things” star blocked her on social media, according to The Daily Mail.
Camille Grammer once tweeted a negative comment about Teddi’s diet company, sparking an online feud with Kyle Richards, who came to Teddi’s defense, per Hollywood Life.
The fan Q&A isn’t the first time in the past few months that Teddi has been talking about a return to RHOBH. In March 2022, she told Us Weekly in a video interview that she would never be interested in a reduced “girlfriend of” role, which Kathy Hilton signed up for.
“No, I think one conversation if I ever came back would be as a housewife,” she said. “Now knowing how it feels to step in for a second, even at that one dinner last year, didn’t feel right to me.”
Teddi added that without the full paycheck, a lot is expected of the reduced role.
“I think then that puts you in a situation where you have to deliver at the moment and it all falls on you and you really aren’t getting paid as a housewife,” she explained. “It’s not something I’m willing to compromise on at this point.”
