“American Idol” season 20 winner Noah Thompson and season 20 runner-up Hunter Wolkonowski, aka HunterGirl, are good friends, which has sparked some dating rumors around the internet.

The friends met during “American Idol” and posted several photos and videos together during their time on the show, including a TikTok post of Thompson wearing HunterGirl’s cheetah-print boots, which were way too small for him and are sagging stayed on his feet.

“I really don’t know what’s wrong with us…” he wrote as a caption.

Some followers took to Thompson’s comments section on TikTok to say they thought HunterGirl and Thompson could have more than friendship.

When it came to those comments, one person wrote: “Why can’t a guy have a FRIEND without being accused of dating her?! [Eye roll emoji]. They’re all just having a good time, living out the experience… chilling.

Thompson agreed, commenting, “Amen sista.”

So it seems that the two are just good friends and are not dating. For his part, Thompson spoke several times during the 20th season of “American Idol” about his girlfriend Angel Dixon, with whom he shares his son Walker.

Although he hasn’t mentioned her often on his social media posts, he has spoken about Dixon during his Instagram Lives, and she was there for the season finale. In now-deleted Instagram posts, the couple posted that they started dating in 2018, although those posts are no longer available.

Thompson became the front-runner on “American Idol” when he performed a cover of Rihanna’s iconic song “Stay” during the showstopper round of the competition. He later performed the song again for his round of encores, which may have helped him secure the win.

In a new Instagram post, Thompson revealed he’s recorded his country version of “Stay.”

“I can’t wait for you guys to hear that!” Thompson said to “Stay” in his car while singing along. The song sounds like it has even more of a country vibe than its version from the show.

“Little glimpse of what’s to come,” Thompson wrote in the caption.

Before performing “Stay” on the show, Thompson spoke more about his relationship with Angel Dixon.

He said he used to sing the song with her at home in Louisa, Kentucky, so it meant a lot to him.

Thompson has worked in Nashville with producer Jimmy Robbins, who also served as producer on Thompson’s hit single “One Day Tonight.”

Thompson plans to keep working hard to capitalize on his American Idol win.

I had a hard time writing this post because I really couldn’t find the words for it…” he wrote on Instagram after winning the contest. “I was completely shocked at that moment and I still am and probably always will be! Thank you all for giving me this opportunity, thank you all who voted, thank you so much for everything!!”

He added: “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all of you, so thank you so much. I look forward to continuing this journey and seeing where this thing goes. Love you all. #americanidol #inshock #thankyall.”
