My 600-lb Life Season 11: Stars faced with life-or-death decisions try to turn their lives around

HOUSTON, TEXAS: “My 600-lb Life” returns for season 11, and the stakes are high for a group of severely overweight people determined to change their lives. This new season chronicles a year in the life of a group of extremely obese people trying to improve their lives.

Each episode follows a year in these people’s lives as they open up about their food addictions, the hardships they encounter, and their paths to healthy living. In the teaser, Chris explains, “When I start eating, it gets me so high,” while Latonya claims that food “fills empty spaces that humans can’t fill.” In the new season, which begins February 1, subjects discuss a variety of health topics, including lymphedema, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis and depression. Individuals take on the daunting challenge of losing enough weight for surgery with the support of their loved ones and Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, a Houston-based bariatric surgeon.

When TLC announced the show’s comeback, they also revealed that Dr. Nowzaradan will help a new group of patients lose weight. If you’ve seen the show, you know that every patient must follow a strict diet plan and lose weight themselves before going under the knife. During this time, Dr. Nowzaradan them to address the root of their problem. Whether it’s binge eating or other mental health issues, viewers can watch as each patient overcomes their challenges, or at least tries to.

“This is your life and you won’t live like this for long,” the doctor says to Patrick in the video. “This is my last chance,” Delana continues.

Geno Dacunto, from New Haven, Connecticut, struggles with day-to-day activities due to his unhealthy relationship with food in the premiere. “I use comfort foods, just to make me feel happier. I just want to be full,” he says, noting that obesity runs in his family. “We’re an Italian family, so we eat a lot,” he adds.

“Because of my weight, it’s getting worse and heavier every day,” Geno says, adding, “What hurts my body the most is probably my back, my knees, and my feet.” Geno weighed 684 pounds after seeing the doctor and he’s on a mission to lose 60 pounds in a month, which he’s doing with the help of his cousin Nico. “He’s very willing to change and I want to lose weight with him,” Nico said of Geno, adding, “I’ll be at his door pushing him.”

Season 11 of My 600-lb Life premieres on TLC and Discovery+ on Wednesday, February 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
