A popular “Dancing With the Stars” pro is ready to return to the show for season 31.

Peta Murgatroyd is going through a lot in her personal life as she and husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy try to expand their family. In a candid interview with People magazine, Murgatroyd opened up about her pregnancy struggles and revealed that she had started the IVF process.

“I have no words other than hope and positivity. I have my fingers crossed that this will work,” Murgatroyd told the outlet.

With DWTS’ new season fast approaching, it’s unknown if Murgatroyd will be asked to join the cast, but if the offer is made she’d want to step in – even if she’s pregnant.

Here’s what you need to know:

It’s unclear when exactly DWTS will pick up again, although history suggests taping will begin sometime in the fall. In an interview with Us Weekly, Murgatroyd said she would “fully” join the cast even if she were pregnant.

She pointed out that the last time she won the Mirrorball Trophy, she was pregnant with their son, Shai.

“I was nine weeks pregnant when I won with Nyle [DiMarco]. I was very tired but I was fine. I wasn’t nauseous or anything, so I certainly would,” she told the outlet.

She also explained that she suffered a miscarriage in Season 29.

“My last season I was there was [with] Vernon Davis, and that’s when my first miscarriage happened. I feel like it just dampened the show a bit for me and kind of put a dark cloud over everything,” she said, adding that because of that, she “didn’t have the best season this season.”

Meanwhile, shortly after the birth of his son, Chmerkovskiy decided to leave DWTS in the past.

“I’m a father, I’m a husband … Your chemistry changes when you have a kid, things look different, they seem different,” he said on a 2018 episode of The Real.

Since sharing her story with People magazine, Murgatroyd has posted quite a bit about her IVF journey on social media. She has documented giving herself injections and even filmed a doctor’s visit where an ultrasound gave her and Chmerkovskiy hopeful news.

“You make a ton of these follicles,” Murgatroyd’s doctor told the couple. “We need to get numbers from you every day,” “Dr. said Surrey, telling Murgatroyd that she needed to take it easy for a few days. “No exercise, no intercourse,” he instructed her.

Later in the Instagram video, Murgatroyd said her nurse told her she had “11 giant follicles in one ovary and 17 giant follicles in the other” — which is great news.

Murgatroyd is optimistic and appears to be in very good emotional shape.

“Let’s just have lots of babies! Let’s have a football team, what do you think?” Murgatroyd asked her husband as the two left the appointment.
