MICROSOFT claims it offered Sony a 10-year deal to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation after a dispute arose over the company’s purchase of the publisher.

Call of Duty is one of the largest franchises in the world, and Sony claims that if Microsoft buys its publisher, Microsoft will create a gaming monopoly.

Microsoft last year offered to buy Activision Blizzard for nearly $70 billion (£60 billion), but has since faced legal action around the world.

Because competitor Sony expressed concerns that the company would make the world’s most popular series exclusively for Microsoft.

However, Microsoft has consistently denied these claims, stating that Call of Duty will remain on all competing platforms.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer recently released a statement saying his company has offered PlayStation a decade-long deal to ensure Call of Duty is released on its consoles.

This would mean that the franchise would remain on PlayStation at least until the end of the PS5’s life cycle.

Sony declined to comment on the statement to The New York Times, and Spencer didn’t say what his competitor’s reaction to the deal was.

All we know is that Sony must have somehow rejected the deal as the case continues to move forward in courts around the world.

Spencer wrote: “The first call [Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella] and I did, after the deal was announced, tell the Sony CEO

“‘Hey, we’re going to keep Call of Duty on your platform.'”

While Call of Duty is a huge franchise, Microsoft claims that’s not the main reason the company wants to buy Activision Blizzard.

The publisher’s third major constituent, King, owns a number of popular mobile games such as Candy Crush Saga.

It’s also the publisher’s arm that consistently performs well and is growing rapidly each quarter.
