Jesy Nelson’s Instagram account took a hit following last week’s controversy.

The 30-year-old lost over 50,000 followers within a few days, according to Social Blade. The exodus began on Sunday when 7,765 stopped following the solo artist, 10,815 dropped out on Monday, followed by a drop of 32,800 followers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nelson dropped her debut single Boyz, with Nicki Minaj on Friday, which caused a lot of backlash. The singer was accused of “blackfishing” – a term used to describe a non-black person who uses hair and makeup to appear racially ambiguous.

This resulted in leaked screenshots showing an alleged conversation between user @NoHun_ and Little Mix band member Leigh-Ann Pinnock. Pinnock accused Nelson of blocking the band on social media, suggesting that the user “should instead make a video of her being a Blackfish”.

While there are rumors that the screenshots were fake, Nicki Minaj jumped on a collaborative Instagram Live with Nelson to address the claims, where she shared some harsh words and accused Pinnock of jealousy.

“Honey, take messages from them and shovel them up your ass. Don’t come out to ruin someone, let them enjoy this time, “said the rapper.

“Print them out text messages, Buss, that’ll open your ass and shove them up your damn ass.”

After ten years of friendship, the original Little Mix member announced late last year that she was leaving the band for medical reasons.

Nelson said in a statement: “The truth is, being in the band lately has been really bad for my mental health. I find the constant pressure to be in a girl group and to live up to expectations very difficult. “

“There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves instead of focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process.”
